I think most of the GFX used is released to the public domain. We need to either verify it is free to use ( as Charas characters are ) or ask them to allow free usage of the charasets.
Is the gpl the right licence for images?
I'm not sure about those legal things so correct me if I'm wrong. I think the gpl is not applicabe to graphics and they should be licenced with the GNU FDL as shown on the bottom of this page.
- GFDL is more appropriate than GPL for images. Other licenses of note include the Free Art License, any of several listed on Creative Commons, and of course good ol' public domain. --GreyKnight 10:25, 16 September 2006 (PDT)
- Please note that we are not allowed to distribute GFDL content as the GPL requires that everything linked is GPL. --Hendrik Brummermann 02:27, 17 September 2006 (PDT)
- Perhaps we should encourage contributers to dual license their contributions(if they aren't already doing Public Domain / BSD Style), just in case? --Seather 22:05, 30 June 2007 (PDT)
