Server downtime on Aug. 17, 2009

The following tables will be converted in the shown order. Based on the number of rows some tables will be faster and some slower. We have chosen this order to get the webpage working again as soon as possible.

Update 08:15:We will provide some updates on the progress here from time to time:

Update 08:30: While we are waiting, let me explain why we did not chose an alphabetical order: We put the tables that are extensively used by the website first. Fortunately those tables are all rather small, so the transformation was fast. The website is up and running again. The huge tables itemlog and gameEvents are not used on the webpage (except for admin/gm pages) so we put them at the end.

Update 10:00: We still don't have an estimated time when the conversation will be finished. Once the table "itemlog" is complete, we can calculate an estimate for the end time by multiplying the time difference from 8:00 until "completion of itemlog" with 4. It is already running two hours, so it is obvious, that the server will not be up at 13:00.

Update 13:50: We will not convert the gameEvents table today but create a new one. The backup of those tables will be converted on another computer in the next days. This means that as soon as the itemlog transformation is done, we are ready to start the server again.

Update 14:20: We have an estimate now: 124 hours. :-/. We are currently thinking about alternatives...
