Dialogues

  • Player> offer
  • Prospector> I have a map to a rich vain or ore that I doubt I'll ever use. Would you like to #see it?
  • Player> see
  • [xx:xx] You look closely at the map and can tell it's fake. But something about how it's drawn makes you feel sorry for him.
  • Prospector> Who you like to #buy it?
  • Player> buy map
  • Prospector> How much will you give me for it?
  • Player> 5
  • Prospector> That's all for such a valuable map? I can't even buy a decent meal for that. Can you pay more?
  • Player> yes
  • Prospector> How much will you give me for it?
  • Player> 100
  • Prospector> Here you go.

...alt...

  • Player> 500
  • Prospector> Wow! Thanks! Here is your map.

As a result, for whatever money you pay for it (up to some limit), you gain a scaled amount of karma (maybe 5 money = 1 karam, up to 1000 karma max). After all, he's a poor old prospector that's down on his luck.

You can only do this once (so sort of a quest). Maybe eventually he will help you with something later (perhaps a helpful hint for something else added if you bought the map).

Also, maybe Loretta notices when you have the map on you, and mentions that the poor prospector sells them to everyone, just so he can afford to eat. And this allows for a mini-quest:

  • Loretta> ... I sometimes visit him and leave some supplies. Would you mind dropping this <some-supply-item> off to him on your way out?
